But before we left, we also saw….
Mosaic Canyon- a limestone canyon that was crushed and heated to the point that it literally turned to marble.
The Badlands with designs made of salt crystals
Lots of beautiful Hummingbirds
Intriguing rock formations
The Ghost town of Rhyolite- complete with the Porter General Store
A dust storm that rivaled a snow storm
Vivid and colorful canyons (Desolation Canyon)
Snow on the hiking trail
and last but not least, after 4.2 miles hiking in the cold and snow, with 2000 feet of elevation gain, topping out at over 9,000 feet…
We had the awesome 360 degree view from the top of Wildrose Peak.
I love, love, love your dust storm picture! That is so eerie but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe did Rhyolite last year.
We think you liked Death Valley!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant accounts of your visit Sue, great photos. Loved the Scotty Castle story, we did not know about that. In awe of your hike with 2,000ft elevation gain. How you gona top this?
