And then of course, our “stuff” has been stored here- both the boat and our household goods- but of course- not for long.
In between the visits, we have continued organizing the storage unit. On Monday, several moving companies came to look at our stuff and give us quote. They were impressed with our packing job. We had thought we would spend all day Tuesday re-combining our stuff back into the one unit, but we actually finished doing that on Monday!
Before we could load up the boat and camper, we had to put the hitch on. Look at the size of that thing! It has to be that long to accommodate the length of the camper.
The next step is to load up the camper, which is always a fun job. I will say though, we are starting to get the hang of it. You can see the hitch sticking out the back.
The final step was to hook up the boat. He had taken just the boat for a short trip to make sure the brakes and lights work.
And so now, we are back on the road for the long trek home. My daughter asked me if it felt weird saying we were going “home” and it really does, but not in a bad way, just weird.
No good-byes - just see ya later. On to new adventures especially now that you have everything with you (especially the boat). We know how important those boats are.
ReplyDeleteLeeanne's parents and sisters still live in Michigan so we still will be regulars back there.
ReplyDeleteI noticed "home" changed meanings depending on which direction we were headed. I suspect Michigan will continue to be "back home" for a long time to come even though you no longer live there. But, I agree it is weird to leave home headed for home.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels you two. A new adventure lies ahead.
ReplyDelete... We used to say home was where the dog was. Now it's where our stuff is.
ReplyDeleteWe said "home" to some friends camping in the park and they said "thought you didn't have one". This is home, the only one we have.
ReplyDeleteThe camper looks like it's sitting too low in the back. Safe travels you two. See you in Havasu.
ReplyDeleteYes Marilyn, we saw that in the picture it looks like it was riding too low. We double checked it and it was just the angle of the shot combined with a rut in the dirt road :)
